Today, I am still trying to figure it out. Honestly, how did we get here? More importantly, how do we change the trajectory of this insane path we’re on before it is completely irreparable? Have we already passed that point?

I admit, I’ve been complacent. I have so much difficulty navigating my own personal life and feeling powerless and hopeless even in that small arena, that my political life has mostly been making sure I show up to vote. That doesn’t seem to be enough.

The area I live in seems to be very pro-Trump, and it scares me. Public places and people have always been a source of anxiety and fear for me, but it’s worse now. People seem to be emboldened in their indignation.

I’d like to do more, because feeling unsafe is not a good feeling and, though I’ve always felt unsafe (anxiety disorder), in today’s volatile atmosphere the sense of feeling unsafe is just unbelievably more real and rational than ever.

Where do we go from here? How much worse does it need to get?
